   The new licensing model for Flex 2.0 should enable legions of developers to start playing with the product and increasing its presence on the web. It’s a very smart strategic move by MM. That was the huge barrier with the 1.x series and why few developers seemed to bother toying with the product. I’m curious to hear more about how Flex and CF will integrate with one another. From what I’ve heard most of the “enterprise data services” are aimed more at J2EE developers but it doesn’t make sense for them to shut CF-centric shops out of that kind of functionality. Good times are ahead :)

   Cliff,

   I agree. I have no idea why they released Flex under the original (very restrictive) licensing, other than maybe to scalp back the R&D costs. The general consensus of opinion from the community at the time seemed to be that the product was very cool but overpriced and difficult for ISVs to take advantage of.

   I’m pretty psyched that MM has changed the model, and I hope it speaks to a long term plan that Adobe will continue to follow. Flex is an awesome technology, and I’d love to see it gain some more traction as the licensing model opens the product up to the masses.
